The latest data for July 2025 from the Romanian National Institute of Statistics highlights significant growth across multiple segments, underscoring the sector’s pivotal role in the national economy.

In July 2025, turnover in the trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles recorded solid month-on-month and year-on-year growth. Compared to June 2025, total turnover increased by 6.1%, driven primarily by vehicle maintenance and repair activities (+11.9%), trade in automotive parts and accessories (+8.6%), vehicle sales (+4.3%), and, to a lesser extent, motorcycle sales and related maintenance (+0.6%).

Year-on-year, July 2025 displayed an impressive 16.7% increase compared to July 2024, with the largest contributions coming from vehicle maintenance and repair (+37.1%), vehicle sales (+18.7%), and trade in automotive parts and accessories (+6.8%), while motorcycle-related activities showed more modest gains of +1.7%.

Analyzing the cumulative period from January to July 2025, turnover in the automotive sector rose by 5.6% compared to the same period in 2024. These figures point to a sustained expansion in both sales and service segments, reflecting robust consumer confidence and continued investment in maintenance, repair, and accessory services.

Overall, the automotive sector remains a key driver of commercial activity in Romania, demonstrating resilience and steady growth despite broader economic fluctuations. The strong performance across multiple sub-sectors highlights the strategic importance of automotive trade and services as a cornerstone of Romania’s economic development.
